Tomica No. 98 Toyota Avensis (トミカ No. 98 トヨタアベンシス) is a toy released within the classic Tomica toyline. It is primarily released in Japan.

Overview

The Toyota Avensis was released on April 21, 2012, and retired November, 2012. It replaced the No. 98 Toyota Noah and was succeeded by the No. 98 Toyota Aqua.

Description

The toy includes the main figure of the Toyota Avensis.

It is a 1/75 model of the real-life vehicle. It has working suspension. However, the rear windows are painted metal, rather than clear plastic.

Trivia

• It is the 6th vehicle to be assigned the number "98".

• It was only produced for 7 months and remains one of Tomica's shortest-lived models ever.

• Due to its small size, it saw heavy criticism from Tomica collectors, which might have been one of the factors leading to its premature demise.

• In spite of its short production run, it seems to have been a very unpopular casting, with some unsold stock having been found in a Taiwanese department store in early 2017.
