The Crown Taxi was released March, 1971, and retired September, 1972. It was succeeded by the No. 28 Toyota New Crown Taxi.

• It is the 1st vehicle to be assigned the number "28".

• A No. 28 Crown Taxi was also released in 1984, but with a different base.

• It was reprinted in 2000, as part of a 30th anniversary reprint series

• It was used as a base for the Crown Taxi (Old) (Toys R Us) and No. 0121 Toyota Crown MS50 (Green Cab Taxi).
