Introduction

Toyota New Generation Car Set (トヨタ新世代カーセット) is a Tomica gift set. It is primarily released in Japan.

Overview

The Toyota New Generation Car Set was released in September 2000 and discontinued shortly afterwards. It was intended to commemorate Tomica's 30th anniversary, as well as to showcase some of Toyota's latest models at the time.

Description

The set includes four then-new Toyota models. All the models had recently been introduced at the time.

• Toyota Prius (トヨタ　プリウス)

• Toyota Celica (トヨタ　セリカ)

• Toyota Estima (トヨタ　エスティマ)

• Toyota Vitz (トヨタ　ヴィッツ)

Trivia

• Bases used include the No. 86 Toyota Prius, No. 96 Toyota Celica, No. 99 Toyota Estima (2000), and Toyota Vitz (Shareholders).

• A near-identical version of the Toyota Celica was released as a game prize at 2008 Tomica events, but with different wheels.

• For some reason, this set doesn't seem terribly popular with collectors and can be obtained for reasonable prices on Japanese auction sites.
